Subject: announcment of selection for the formation of the civilian crew i.s.s. Samsāra
For: Terrestrial civilian population
The United Nation Space Agency is forwarding a call to the terrestrial population in search of volunteers for the SIDERALIS expedition.
As it has been reported by the press on January 15th 2479, the SIDERALIS expedition will bring 600 individuals on the planed τ Ceti f (called Andlàngr). It is the fifth planet on the stellar system τ Ceti at about 11 light years from Earth. The aim of the project is to create the first terrestrial extrasolar colony.
The volunteers who will submit their candidacy will be selected. In case of a positive result from the selection process and the consequent psychometric tests, they will undergo training in order to join the crew for the interstellar ship called Samsāra. The ship will leave the Jupiter orbit on the next June 2483 headed towards Andlàngr: the journey will take seventeen years in total. 98% of the crew will pass fifteen of these years in crio-hibernation.
The civilian crew of the i.s.s. Samsāra (composed of the selected volunteers after proper training) will include 500 individuals who shone for their technical capabilities, physical abilities and soft skills.
They will divide into different teams with the following composition:
Pharmacists and medical personnel, 75 open positions.
Researchers and scientific personnel, 50 open positions.
Engineers (various fields), 100 open positions.
Entertainers, scholars and artists, 50 open positions.
Managers, 25 open positions.
Labourers, workmen and technician officers, 200 open positions.
To the volunteers who presented their candidacy and passed the selection, the position in the preferred team won’t be guaranteed.
Key for the selection process will be the personal motivation of each volounteer: the SIDERALIS expedition will be only ONE WAY, each colonist will have to leave behind each property and every family member. Other colonial missions are not guaranteed or in program for the moment. The selection process will try to take into consideration every anthropomorphic terrestrial species as much as possible.
